Bisexual Rant, and Frolicon

Are you going to Frolicon? I am!

And now for something completely different:

Why Marriage Matters to Bisexuals--Freedom to Marry's page on bisexual issues. It also has some cool links; I'd particularly like to point out Bisexuality: Dispelling the Myths.

Also: I could really do without some people's definitions of "pansexual" being an excuse for more hatin' on bi people. It doesn't help that my first google turned up stuff like a livejournal community I can't find any more that had posts saying they were pansexual because bisexuals are "whorish" and evil, nasty people who are prejudiced against transgendered people. Gee, thanks.

I've never been a big fan of bisexuality. Bisexual girls get a bad reputation for being flitty and slutty girls who only "hook up" with girls to impress the boys. I know I shouldn't buy into the stereotype, but growing up I saw so much of it that I decided I never wanted to be lumped in that category of "women." I prefer the term pansexual, but I get so sick and tired of explaining to people what that means and why I choose to use that term rather than the much simpler "bi," which is what I am. I'm finally accepting that.

Well, kiddies, back when I came out in the 90s, there was no law in queer land that said bisexuals weren't allowed to be attracted to genderfluid, androgynous, or transgendered people. There was the "anything that moves" stereotype, but there will always be lameness and fail.
